DID YOU JUST BUY A BRAND NEW FLAT SCREEN HDTV? TO EXTEND YOUR PURCHASE’S SHELF LIFE, BE SURE TO FOLLOW THESE TIPS:

  • Don’t lay your flat-panel flat A flat-screen TV doesn’t mean that you should lay it flat. That’s not what flat-screen TVs are designed to do. If you lay it face down, you can potentially damage its inner workings. Keep it in it’s vertical position and it will vertically perform for you.
  • Don’t mount using wall anchors  TVs are heavy and drywall/sheetrock is not. Unless you want to watch Newton’s second law of motion firsthand, don’t do it.
  • Don’t leave the TV in dynamic, sports or retail mode For the best quality picture, change your TV to movie or cinema mode. Not only will the store default not look as good, but it will also use more energy, which may increase your electricity bills.
  • Don’t mount your TV over the fireplace While it might sound like a cozy idea, you don’t want to be roasting TVs over the open fire. The fireplace may be the absolutely worse place to mount a TV. Not only are you straining your neck to watch TV from this elevated platform, but every time, you start the fire, the soot will coat the TV. Just remember, we didn’t start the fire, but you might want to keep watching them in high-def detail on your widescreen plasma.
